Two answers, side by side
The government's crosswalk is the official mapping from military specialties to civilian occupations, published by the Department of Labor (O*NET). For many jobs, infantry and artillery among them, it stops at a military-only category or a catch-all "All Other". Our match uses the government's answer whenever it names real civilian jobs, and offers ours when it doesn't.
A title is a starting point
Your job title translates to a few civilian occupations. What you actually did, the people you led, the equipment you ran, the missions you planned, is what gets you hired. That doesn't fit in a code.
That is what Career Backstory builds
It captures your whole service and work history once, in your own words, then builds a tailored resume and cover letter for each job you apply to, with civilian language a recruiter can search for.
