For Workforce & Reentry Programs

Give the people you serve a real shot at getting past the resume screen.

Career Backstory partners with workforce development, reentry, military transition, and community outreach programs to give participants free access to AI-powered resume and cover letter tools — invoiced to your organization, no credit card or cost to the people you serve.

Early-stage partnership program — we follow up directly with every organization that reaches out.
How It Works For Your Organization

One sign-up. No cost to your participants.

Your organization sponsors the access — we invoice you, never your participants. We set you up with a community code, you share it with the people you serve, and they sign up on their own with no credit card.

1

You reach out

Tell us a bit about your organization and who you serve using the form below.

2

We set up access

We follow up directly and get your organization a community code, invoiced to you — not your participants.

3

Participants sign up free

They use the code to create an account — no credit card, no separate application, no cost to them.

4

They build their story once

Guided prompts, free-form writing, or an interview-style flow — whatever's easiest for them — turns into resumes and cover letters they can reuse for every application.

Why It Matters For The People You Serve

Built for exactly the situations generic resume templates miss.

A lot of the people you work with have real, valuable experience that doesn't fit neatly into a template — employment gaps, career changes, informal or non-traditional work history. That's the problem Career Backstory is actually built to solve.

1

Real matching, not keyword stuffing

Instead of stuffing a resume with buzzwords, Career Backstory analyzes the actual job posting against someone's real background and highlights the genuine overlap — which matters most for people whose experience doesn't map cleanly onto a job title.

2

Gaps and changes, handled honestly

The career story library is built around someone's whole background — not just their most recent formal job — so employment gaps and career changes become part of a coherent story instead of something to hide.

3

No writing skill required

Participants don't need to be strong writers or resume experts. Guided prompts and a conversational, interview-style flow do the heavy lifting — they just tell their story in their own words.

4

Military service, translated by real data

A dedicated Military Service entry captures branch, rank, and MOS/rating/AFSC, then grounds the civilian translation in the official DoD/O*NET Military Occupational Classification Crosswalk — real job-title and job-family matches, not just an AI guess at what a MOS "probably" means in civilian terms.

Common Questions

Questions from program staff

Is this really free for the people we serve?

Yes. Participants sign up with your organization's community code and are never asked for a credit card. Cost is invoiced to your organization, not to participants.

How do we get a community code?

Fill out the form above and we'll follow up directly by email to get your organization set up. This is still an early-stage, hands-on program, so every organization gets a real person on the other end, not an automated approval flow.

What size organization does this work for?

Because this is early-stage, we're working directly with organizations of different sizes to figure out what fits — from small local nonprofits to larger workforce boards. Reach out and tell us about your program.

Do participants need an existing resume to start?

No. Career Backstory is built around collecting someone's real career story first — jobs, skills, wins, in their own words — and assembling resumes and cover letters from that. It works whether someone is updating an old resume or starting from nothing.

Do participants need to be comfortable with technology?

The process is designed to be approachable: guided prompts, free-form writing, or a conversational interview-style flow, whichever is easiest for the person using it. No résumé-writing experience or advanced computer skills required.

Can staff see what participants are working on?

Right now, participant accounts are their own — this program provides access to the tool itself, not a case-management or staff-monitoring layer. If your organization needs something more integrated, mention it in the form above and we'll talk it through.
